Issue: You receive the error "Network error 10014 - invalid pointer address" when attempting to perform an online registration. For X550 series, the error code is "10054".
Cause: This error is a typically the result of a firewall or proxy server that is blocking the connection between local NComputing software and the NComputing registration server.
Resolution: Opening the proper ports on any firewalls that may be restricting communication between the local NComputing Terminal Server host computer and the internet will allow the registration process to complete successfully.
Port exception for registration: TCP port: 3630 IP Address: 85.214.42.113
Note: The X550 will attempt to complete registration over port 80 if port 3630 is inaccessible.
When dealing with local software firewall applications, you may need to make sure that our executable files have proper access to the network. These executable files include:
X & L-Series: KMMSG.EXE KMSERVC.EXE
L-Series only: BOOTSRV.EXE KMUPDATE.EXE KMREGWIZ.EXE
Verify that you have Permitted/Granted access to these applications or your NComputing product will not work properly. For a detailed compilation of which anti-virus/firewall applications have been tested and their known problems, please contact your vendor of that product.
Note: If you are not able or permitted to add these exceptions to your network firewall or are still receiving an error you can perform an offline registration. To do this, please search our knowledge base using the key words "offline registration".
